Team Quests (Co-Op)
Team Quests are the cooperative multiplayer component of Work Arena, the first game within the Work Games platform. An AI agent generates daily challenges that the team defeats by completing their real work tasks.
How Team Quests Work
Starting the Day
- Team members plan their day on their personal daily boards and lock in their daily goals
- The team leader sees how many members have locked in
- The leader presses Start Day — only members who locked in participate in that day's quests
- The AI generates a quest suggestion based on team data
- The leader reviews, modifies, or accepts the suggestion
- Quests become active and the team starts working
Attacking Quests
When a team member completes a task:
- If the task is assigned to a specific quest → the attack is automatic
- If the task is not assigned → an attack button appears, and the member chooses which quest to target
Each completed task deals "damage" to the quest equal to its XP value. When a quest's HP reaches zero, it's defeated.
Ending the Day
The team leader presses End Day to resolve all quests. Defeated quests reward XP and drops to participating members. Undefeated quests are marked as failed.
Quest Types
Worky Battles
Workys are the monsters of Work Arena. Each Worky has a type, HP value, and visual sprite. Worky quests can be free-for-all (any member can attack) or team-up (only assigned members can attack).
Worker Battles
Workers are NPC characters with lower spawn rates than Workys. They follow the same free-for-all or team-up mechanics.
Raid Quests
Raids are high-difficulty challenges offered once per week to teams with 3+ consecutive daily goal wins. Raids are always free-for-all with all members participating and are 10-20% harder than the team's average speed.
The AI Agent
The AI agent is a core part of the Co-Op experience. It acts as a friendly, strategic advisor that:
- Reads team data: Goals, sprints, tasks, deadlines, priorities, capacity, morale, past results
- Balances difficulty: Increases challenge when morale is high, reduces when the team is stressed
- Suggests team-ups: Pairs overworked members with those having lighter days
- Generates structured quests: Type, HP target, team-up assignments, and reasoning
- Does NOT write data directly: All suggestions require leader approval
Agent Input
| Data Source | What It Tracks |
|---|---|
| Sprint deadlines | Upcoming due dates and urgency |
| Task priorities | Board ordering and priority flags |
| Team capacity | Members available and locked in |
| Past daily goals | Historical performance and trends |
| Perceived difficulty | Self-reported morale from each member |
| Task relations | Blocking/blocked-by dependencies |
| Effort estimates | XP and time estimates on tasks |
Streak Tracking
Teams build win streaks by completing consecutive daily team goals. Streaks unlock:
- Raid eligibility at 3+ consecutive wins
- Increased difficulty as the team proves its capability
- Recognition for sustained team performance
